NAAME Check for Naked Element
NAAME, the New Anglia Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, are an organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting the manufacturing and engineering industry in our region and Naked Element open their ‘NAAME Dropping’ section which shines a spotlight on innovative local businesses.
The magazine is free and packed with interesting articles and useful information. For example, did you know that manufacturing and engineering is Norfolk and Suffolks third largest sector, employing nearly 25,000 people? And that it contributes £1.5bn GVA to the New Anglian economy every year? With that in mind, the government plan to increase investment in the sector and to increase tax relief to 12% for R&D in manufacturing and engineering according to the ‘UK Industrial Strategy’ article. Those worried that technology will replace the workforce rather than generate jobs need not fret however, as the ‘Automation & Digitisation’ article details most businesses actually predict an increase in workforce numbers after adopting new tech.
NAAME rightly identify that the sector will experience huge growth, but needs the right support to do so. Jamie Thums, NAAME Chairman, says “Developing a tenacious strategy for Norfolk and Suffolk’s Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering sector is vital for its growth. It will also seek to fuel enabling sectors that utilise its outputs and cross-cutting technologies. Innovative technology, digitisation and people-centric engagement enablers are the foundations to improving productivity and competitiveness”.
Innovative technology and digitisation are exactly what Naked Element specialise in and that’s why we will be at the NAAME Industry 4.0 conference on 15th February, with our director Paul Grenyer speaking about how technology can support industry expansion. Read our feature on page fifteen of the new quarterly e-magazine and sign-up for free to attend Industry 4.0. It promises to be an exciting mix of engineering and manufacturing businesses from East Anglia joining together to discuss the next industrial revolution.
